A calculation and administration guide for healthcare professionals
This calculator provides mathematical assistance using a clinician-prescribed IVIG dose and a selected infusion protocol. It does not prescribe treatment, assess suitability or replace the product monograph, hospital protocol, clinical monitoring or professional judgement.

Prescribed dose
This tool never suggests what the prescribed dose should be. It only converts a dose that a doctor has already prescribed.
Infusion protocol
Each stage runs for the titration interval if tolerated. The final selected rate continues until the prescribed volume is completed. Protocol ceiling 8 mL/kg/hr.

Clinical guide for the infusion team
Before the infusion
- Confirm the doctor's prescription, indication and dose
- Confirm the correct IVIG brand and concentration
- Review previous IVIG exposure, product changes and prior reactions
- Assess hydration and relevant renal, thrombotic, cardiac and hyperviscosity risks
- Review hypersensitivity history and IgA-related concerns where relevant
- Inspect the product for discolouration, cloudiness or particulate matter
- Allow refrigerated product to reach room temperature according to product instructions
- Do not shake the product
- Record the product name, batch or lot number and expiry date
- Establish baseline observations according to clinic protocol
During the infusion
- Begin at the selected protocol's initial rate
- Increase only if tolerated and clinically appropriate
- Monitor the patient and vital signs according to the clinic protocol
- Observe for headache, flushing, nausea, chills, changes in pulse or blood pressure, breathing difficulty, rash, pain or other adverse reactions
- Slow or stop the infusion if an adverse reaction occurs
- Escalate and manage the reaction according to the clinic's emergency and infusion-reaction protocol
- Only resume at an appropriate lower rate if authorised by the treating clinician and clinically safe
After the infusion
- Record the completed dose and volume
- Record the maximum rate reached
- Record start time, completion time and any interruptions
- Document vital signs and any adverse events
- Record the product and lot number
- Provide patient-specific aftercare and escalation advice
- Arrange appropriate monitoring or follow-up
