VDI
Vasculitis Damage Index. 64 items in 11 systems, each scored present (1) or absent (0). It records cumulative damage, not current activity. Total 0 to 64.
For clinicians only. This tool is for healthcare professionals and clinical education only. It does not diagnose, replace clinical judgement, or replace specialist assessment. Any decisions about a patient must be based on full clinical assessment, investigations where appropriate, and current clinical guidelines.
- Record damage that has developed or worsened since the onset of vasculitis and has been present for at least 3 months.
- The VDI is cumulative: include qualifying damage even if it has since resolved, and carry forward items recorded at previous assessments.
- Exclude comorbidity that existed before onset and has not changed. Damage need not be attributed to vasculitis; it may be due to treatment or another cause after onset.
- For discrete events (for example myocardial infarction, stroke or surgery), wait until at least 3 months after the event. Repeat episodes must be at least 3 months apart.
- Do not count the same pathological lesion twice. Current disease activity is assessed separately with BVAS.
- This is a single anonymous assessment. Nothing is saved. Please do not enter patient names or identifiers.
0 items selected.
The total is the number of items present (0 to 64). The VDI has no validated severity bands, and this tool does not offer a diagnosis, prognosis or treatment recommendation.
This implementation follows the published form and scoring instructions; it has not been independently clinically validated or endorsed by the instrument's authors.
